Swedish

Swedish (svenska) is a Scandinavian language with around nine million speakers. It is the most widely spoken language in Sweden (8.8 million speakers) and one of the official languages of Finland (300,000 speakers). 

Swedish is closely related to the other two Scandinavian languages spoken on the mainland, Danish and Norwegian. Swedish and Norwegian, and to a slightly lesser extent Danish, are reasonably mutually intelligible. Some words differ, but grammatically the languages are similar.
